Major sports media companies such as ESPN and FOX Sports are becoming increasingly unbearable to follow in the offseason. When Football is not on and there is limited news to cover they flood their social media accounts with bullshit takes to try and stir up interaction and hopes it goes viral. Last year Brady Quinn famously said that the Jets would win two games and everyone and their mother laughed at him as they cashed their 5 game over in week 7.
So far this season there have been some outrages takes that I need to call BS on. Starting with this NFL Top QB list that FOX put out:
Kirk at 6 I’m not that mad about. A lot of people (myself included) started flipping their script on Kirk Cousins after watching Netflix’s Quarterback documentary. However he is still the Checkdown King and by no means should he be above Aaron Rodgers. The dude dominated the NFC North for so many years and almost got back to the playoffs last year despite having the worst roster of his career.
Dakota Prescott sucks and everyone realizes that now. His fanbase hates him, he’s missed plenty of games over the past couple of seasons, and he’s the sole reason I know Cooper Rush exists. People wanted Cooper Rush to start at one point last season and they are still putting Prescott into the Top 10 QB list.
Tua I’ll forgive. He was electric when healthy but unfortunately I don’t know how much Tua we will be seeing in the future. I can not forgive the fact that they put Justin Fields’ name on this list at all, let alone ahead of Trevor Lawrence. To his credit, Field’s started to figure it out a bit toward the end of the season. However, the Bears came in LAST place in the NFL. Last year Trevor Lawrence won a playoff game against Herbert and the Chargers. Not only did he beat them but he led a 2nd half comeback. I would say that Trevor Lawrence is closer in talent to Burrow and Herbert. Justin Fields on the other hand is beneath Mac Jones in skill level; he’s probably in between Zach Wilson then and Russel Wilson last year.
This list by Colin Cowherd is proof that some intern on his team in trolling him:
First this guy had Dwayne Haskins on a list of QBs that will never win a Super Bowl. In all fairness Haskins proved he didn’t have the elusiveness nor the mobility to cross that road (not the literal road I mean the one to the Super Bowl). But here he puts Mahomes and Kelce at 3. If you want to argue that Burrow and Chase are better, that’s fine, it’s a respectful argument. To put a duo that has never played together yet over a duo that has won 2 Super Bowl’s and has made it to 4 AFC Championship games in the past 4 years is ridiculous. Colin, write your own content…
This list by Eric Moody is the sole reason why my fantasy league switched to Sleeper:
Fields over Burrow? Mahomes not number 1? Tua and Anthony Richardson making the list at all? How the hell does ESPN make the amount of layoffs they did and this guy keeps his job.
Last but not least (and this one might give me a heart attack) we have this gem from Sports Illustrated’s Connor Orr.
Who the hell even is Connor Orr and who gave him the Instagram password. If Mac Jones and the Patriots win the AFC East or even get 10 wins I will shut down this Blog and cover the WNBA for the rest of my life. Now I know this team will play spoiler to other teams, probably the Jets, but you can not truly believe that Mac Jones is beating out Josh Allen, Rodgers, or a healthy Dolphin’s offense. I think everyone else in the nation can see that they have the worst Roster in the AFC East on paper. This is a perfect example of a fake take to drive people like me insane. So I guess it’s a job well done.
